Carrie + Charlie :: A Sexy Retro Car Themed Portrait Session~!

Carrie + Charlie have been wonderful clients and friends for years now. It all started with their wedding and now we get to do super cool sessions like this one for their anniversaries.

This concept was their idea. It was something very important to them. For the past 91 years, The Vinsetta Garage has been a functioning auto garage. It closed it’s doors and waas listed for sale at the end of 2010. Most who were familiar with the icon, were terrified that it would be torn down and replaced with a new generic building. However, the same people that brought us the amazing Clarkston Union are turning the garage into a restaurant (yes! it will have mac + cheese!). They say that the exterior will remain mainly the same, keeping the old garage vibe. Very cool. Let’s face it though, just that mac + cheese is enough to be labeled very cool ~ side note: if you have not bee to the Clarkston Union and tried that mac + cheese, do it asap.

So anyways,  Carrie + Charlie are super awesome and hot and happy and friendly and photogenic, so I know going into a shoot with them that it won’t be like work, it will just be fun and easy. This was no different. As soon as I point a camera at these two something magical happens. They make me love my job and photography more than I did before I pointed my camera at them.  That’s powerful.

A very special thanks to my friend Andy for helping me out on this special session.

Ellen + Seans Amazing Portraits @ the Frank Lloyd Wright Palmer House~!

When Ellen contacted us about shooting some portraits at the Frank Lloyd Palmer House in Ann Arbor, I could barely contain my excitement~! Nate and I are HUGE FLW lovers and have never had the opportunity to visit one of his houses.

Ellen + Sean were getting married that day at the house with a small 5 person ceremony (including them and the officiant!). We didn’t photograph the wedding part, just these incredible posed images of the two of them. The Palmer House, which was built in the early 1950′s, is such a breathe taking home and grounds. We could have spent all day there creating incredible images all around the house and gardens and grounds.

Ellen + Sean did a fan job coordinating their wardrobe and accessories to the home and era without being too theme-y. The monochromatic print on Ellens white dress was very Frank Lloyd Wright-y and the asymmetrical neck line was undoubtedly an FLW attribute. Seans tie had a very usonian print on it and his cuffed pant legs were also quite ’50′s.

Nate and I had such an incrediobnle time with these two, laughing and exploring and creating. It was their first time in a FLW home as well as the four of us were like little kids taking it all in. It was such a pleasure to share that experience with 2 such awesome people.

So, you can rent this house. Like a hotel or maybe more like a B&B I guess. It’s not even that expensive! Check out it’s site here for some great architectural photography of the home and rental info!
