When Naomi + Patrick first mentioned the words Ghost Forest, we knew we were more than interested. We had been waiting for this for over a year, and it did not disappoint.
N+P were super troopers and woke up bright and early the day after their wedding to do this Wear the Dress Session (commonly referred to as a Trash the Dress). They were sleepy, a little sick and maybe a teeny bit hungover, but they powered through and it was WELL worth it.
These are trees that once grew where the dunes are now. N+P told me that these trees are prehistoric. Since the sand is constantly being blown around, moving and growning, these trees were covered by sand for many, many years only to be unearthed again once the sand moved past that area.
These “trees” are amazing.
Now, the actual shoot itself was more like a challenge from the Bggest Loser than a typical photo shoot for us. N+P said that we would have to walk pretty far. No problem, we thought, we can walk far. But what they really meant was climb. And climb in 100 feet tall piles of sand. We were slightly unprepared for this
As most of you know, we photograph all of our posed images with a studio light, which is what gives our images that certain look. Soooo, here is the equation of insanity for that day:
100 foot tall sand dunes+climbing+holding 50+ lbs of equioment = CRAZY TOWN~!
But we love N+P with all of our heart and hold no grudges
So, I am in mad love with these images. The sky was perfection that morning and the weather was one part of the equation that didn’t try to kill me.
